(Atlantic) The Atlantic girls’ basketball team takes the floor tonight for the third time in this young season. The (1-1) Trojans are home after road games at Pella and Denison-Schleswig. The Trojans’ opponent, ACGC, gets their first taste of competition this season.
The Trojans fell short to Pella on November 17 and bounced back last Tuesday night, 39-26 over Denison-Schleswig.
Payton Harter had a big night for the Trojans. The junior forward scored 19 points and snagged 12 rebounds. Coach Vargason, the Trojans will face a Chargers team that plays a high-intensity defense style.
The Chargers have to replace two starters from one year ago, including their leading scorer, Sophia Dorsey. Returning starters are Shay Lemke, Kelsey Carlson, and Reagan Carney.
Coach Vargason says he wants to see more three-point looks and attacking the rim with a purpose.
Payton Harter leads the team with a 13.5 points-per-game average. Maddie Richter is averaging 8.5, and Zoey Kirchhoff is averaging7.5.
We will have the game on 95.7 F.M. and live video-streamed on westerniowatoday.com powered by NishnaNet. The Pre-game show starts at 5:45. The tip-off is around 6:00 p.m.
