(Clarinda) Clarinda City Councilman Matt Ridge announced his resignation from the Council at Wednesday’s meeting.
According to the meeting minutes, City Manager Gary McClarnon thanked Councilman Ridge for his service on the Council. He said there are two options to fill that position since it is too late to add to the ballot for November’s election. The first option would be to fill in an appointment within 60-days of the effective date of the resignation, or call for a special election. McClarnon said anyone interested in the Council position should stop by City Hall.
Meanwhile, Mayor Craig Hill asked everyone, now that political signs are starting to be displayed, to respect those signs and not tamper with them.
In other activity, the Council approved a request from 5th Grader Hailey Kane to block of Willow Street for Trick or Treating on October 31st. Willow Street from 16th to 20th Street will be shut down.
