(Des Moines, IA) — Iowans are being asked to watch out for the spotted lanternfly. Emma Hanigan is with Iowa DNR Urban Forester.
The pest has not been found in Iowa yet, but it has been found in Illinois. The insect is native to eastern Asia and will also go after orchards, pumpkin patches, and the common invasive tree of heaven. The multi colored, winged pest does not pose a threat to humans or animals.
