(Des Moines) Those who keep a keen eye on the weather daily experienced some sticker shock when they viewed their area weather station data in the southwest and west central Iowa on Monday. Some Atlantic and Denison weather stations reported 142 to 148 degrees heat index values. These numbers were incorrect.
Rod Donavon is with the National Weather Service in Des Moines. He says the actual heat index values were in the 110-to-115-degree range across a large portion of west central and southwest Iowa.
