(Arispe) The driver and his passenger suffered injuries in a single-vehicle accident in Union County.
The Union County Sheriff’s Office says the accident happened at 2:00 a.m. on Saturday on Highway 169 north of Arispe. The driver, 18-year-old Jason Lee Shimer of Creston, and his 17-year-old passenger were injured in the accident.
Authorities say Shimer fell asleep while driving a southbound 2011 Dodge Ram 3500 pickup. The truck left the roadway on the eastbound side and came to rest in the ditch.
EMS transported Shimer to Greater Regional Hospital in Creston. A private vehicle took the 17-year-old passenger to Greater Regional Hospital before law enforcement arrived.
