(Des Moines) A neighborhood group has a message for a Des Moines City Council member: show up to meetings or resign. It’s been nearly four months since Council Member Indira Sheumaker attended a council meeting. She was not on hand for Monday’s meeting, at which point representatives of the Beaverdale Neighborhood Association demanded she either get back to doing the work of the people she represents, or leave her council seat. Sheumaker is allegedly dealing with an unknown illness and has not said when she might return to Council meetings. BNA leaders say her lack of representation is hurting her constituents in Ward One.
