(Iowa City, IA) – Kirk Ferentz has been named to the 2023 Dodd Trophy Preseason Watch List. The Dodd Trophy is a major coaching award for the head coach of a college football team. Specifically, this award targets those who put the elements of scholarship, leadership, and integrity toward their team.
Coach Ferentz is entering his 25th season as the Hawkeye’s head coach which makes him the longest-tenured head coach in college football. He is Iowa’s winningest head coach and has over 100 wins in Big-10 play.
Ferentz has his fair share of previous awards, winning the Bobby Dodd National Coach of the Year and Big-10 Coach of the Year in 2015 and three times before 2015. He also earned the Woody Hayes and Eddie Robinson National Coach of the Year in 2015.
The Hawkeyes will begin their season on September 2nd at home against Utah State at 11 am.
