(San Antonio, TX) — Simpson College’s Women’s Track and Field team features a lot of alumni from the area and on Friday, Southwest Valley alum Emma Cooper ran the 5th fastest time in Simpson history in the 200 meter dash. Cooper ran a time of 25.58 seconds and finished 6th overall. Cooper is from Villisca, IA and currently a Sophomore that is majoring in health and exercise science and minoring in coaching and entrepreneurship.
Cooper was also part of the 4×100 relay that ran a time of 48.40 seconds which is the third fastest time in school history. She also finished 4th in the 100 meter dash.
During the indoor season, Cooper set the Simpson school record in the 60 meter dash at 7.70 seconds; it was set at the ARC Championships. Cooper would earn All Conference honors and selected All Region during the indoor season. She also competes in the long jump and won the meet at the Grinnell Invitational on January 31 with a leap of 5.27 meters which is 6th best in Simpson history.
Atlantic alum Nicole Middents finished in 4th place in the 400 with a time of 1:00.58; she was also 28th in the 200.
Nodaway Valley alum Maddax DeVault was 5th in the 100 Hurdles with a time of 15.45 seconds.
Simpson College will compete at the Jim Duncan Relays at Drake Stadium on Friday, April 10.
