(Des Moines) Governor Kim Reynolds is calling state lawmakers back to the Iowa State Capitol next week for a rare special session. On July 11th, GOP lawmakers will look to pass new abortion restrictions. It comes after the state Supreme Court was split 3-to-3 last month in a case that permanently blocked a 2018 law. It would have banned nearly all abortions after a heartbeat is detected, which is around six weeks of pregnancy.
