(Harlan, IA) — Volleyball runs deep for Harlan Head Coach Amber Brown — so much so that she is also a line judge for major college games in the region.
Brown works at games in Ames for Iowa St., Omaha for Creighton and also in Lincoln for Nebraska — Brown recently worked at the round robin tournament held this past weekend where the Huskers hosted several teams including Georgia Tech, Baylor and New Mexico.
Brown has been line judging ever since college at Missouri St. just to get some extra money and worked herself up the ranks. When she moved to Omaha, she worked Creighton games and eventually Nebraska and ISU started to use her in games. She says being a line judge gives her a chance to watch the best volleyball players in the country
Brown says she can learn a lot by watching the college volleyball players in action that can help her coaching at the high school level
Brown says there is no interaction with the players and coaches — she and the rest of the officials have to stay impartial. However, she cannot help but feel the energy when she is at Nebraska games
Brown says she will work at 9 Nebraska games this season and has also been selected to work some post-season games as well.
