(Atlantic) The Atlantic boy’s track team clinched the team title on their home track at the Bruce Henderson Invitational Track Meet at Atlantic on Monday with a win in the final event of the night, the 4×400 Meter Relay. The Trojans scored 135 points, and Glenwood finished second with 122.50.
Colton Rasmussen, Bennett Whetstone, Caden Andersen, and Carter Pellett carried the baton for the Trojans. Senior Carter Pellett took the baton in a close second and boldly moved into the lead at the head of the backstretch, holding on to bring home the gold. Pellett ran a 50.37 split on the anchor leg.
The Trojans also picked up key points in the High Jump, with Jayden Proehl and Colton Rasmussen’s one-two finish going 5-10.00 and 5-08.00 respectively. The 4×800 Meter Relay team of Bennett Whetstone, Alex Sonntag, Tanner O’Brien, and Caden Andersen topped the field in a time of 8:27.13, and the Trojans won the Shuttle Hurdle Relay with Jackson McLaren’s solid lead-off leg followed by strong performances from Colton Rasmussen, Alex Keiser, and Easton O’Brien. The quad posted a time of 1:03.11.
Glenwood’s Tristan Meier, Aaden Lopez, Jake Shannon, and Andrew Smith won the Distance Medley in 3:50.36. Anthony Driscoll-Lee won the 110 Meter Hurdles in a time of 15.51, and Bryant Keller won the 800 Meters in 2:03.28.
Brehden Eggerss of Harlan leaped 20-02.50 to win the Long Jump. The Cyclones also won the 4×200 Meter Relay with Jacob Birch, Matthew Sorfonden, Cade Sears, and Will Neuharth in a time of 1:31.20. The 4×100 Meter Relay clocked a 43.33 for the win. The carriers included Jacob Birch, Cade Sears, Brehden Eggerss, and Will Neuharth.
Taydyn Brown of Clarinda won the 100-meters in 11.22. Jack Kling of Red Oak won the 200 Meters in 23.01 and claimed the title in the 400 in 51.93.
Shenandoah, with Hunter Dukes, Cole Graham, Brody Cullin, and Alex Razee topped the field in the 800 Sprint Medley Relay in a time of 1:35.89. Brody Cullin won the 400 Meter Hurdles in 58.74, and Tyler Laughlin outdistanced the field in the Shot Put with a toss of 48-03.00. Aidan Perez heaved the discus 159-06 for the win. Cody Smith of Council Bluffs, Abraham Lincoln won the 3200 in 11:12.18, and Colin Lillie of St. Albert won the 1600 Meters in 4:37.82.
