(Harlan) The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office reports four drug-related arrests.
Benjamin Tomoya Sorensen, 29, of Harlan, and Brooke Rena Petersen, 26, of Audubon, were arrested in the early morning hours Saturday as a result of a traffic stop. Sorensen was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance-Marijuana, Possession of a Controlled Substance-Methamphetamine, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Petersen was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance-Marijuana. Both were transferred to the Shelby County Jail for processing. Upon further investigation, Petersen received an additional charge of Possession of Contraband in a Controlled Facility after officials discovered additional marijuana hidden on her person. Both subjects had an initial appearance in front of the magistrate the following morning and were released on their own recognizance and given a future court date.
Jordan Michael Flaherty, 34, of Harlan, was arrested August 4th after authorities were called to the 59’er Motel for a male party who was refusing to leave. Flaherty was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance-Methamphetamine, Prohibited Acts, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was transported to the Shelby County Jail where he posted bond and was released later that evening. The Harlan Police Department assisted in this incident.
Andrew James Nippert, 22, of Council Bluffs, was arrested August 4th as a result of a traffic stop along M16. Upon further investigation, K9 Odin was deployed on the vehicle and Nippert was charged with Operating while Intoxicated 2nd Offense, Possession of a Controlled Substance Marijuana 2nd Offense, Prohibited Acts, Carrying Weapons, and Driving While Revoked. He was transported to the Shelby County Jail. After an initial appearance, he was held under $2,000 cash/surety bond. He posted bond later that afternoon and was released from custody.
