(Griswold) The Griswold Fire Department continues fundraising efforts for a new fire station. U.S. Third District Congresswoman Cindy Axne toured the facility on Wednesday afternoon.
The Griswold Fire Department’s fundraising efforts for a new facility started six years ago. Currently, the money raised is shy of $300,000, with a goal of $500,000. Fire Chief J.C. Wyman says they’ve outgrown the current building.
And the building has seen its’ better days.
The Griswold City Council applied for a “Community Betterment” grant from the federal government. The fire department members wanted to show Representative Axne why the funding would help improve the facility.
The Griswold Fire Department has 31-members, including three paramedics.
