(Cedar Falls) The KSOM/KS95 News Team received eight awards in small market radio at the 2022 Iowa Broadcast News Association Convention, and Awards Ceremony held on Saturday at the Holiday Inn in Cedar Falls.
Mandy Billings received a first place and third place award in the Public Affairs category, second in Farm and Agribusiness and second in Best Newscast. Tom Robinson received first place awards in General reporting, and the Feature Category, and second place for Spot News coverage. Bennett Blake received a second-place award for sports coverage.
WHO-TV news reporter Roger Riley is the 2022 Jack Shelley Award winner. Riley is a native of eastern Iowa, went to college in the western U.S., and started his first TV job in New Mexico. He returned to Iowa and worked at TV stations in Sioux City, Cedar Rapids, and Ames, and now at WHO-TV in Des Moines. Congratulations to Roger Riley!

The Shelley Award is the highest individual honor given in Iowa broadcast journalism. It is named for the former News Director of WHO Radio and Television and Professor Emeritus of Journalism at Iowa State University. Jack Shelley died on September 15, 2010.
