(Cass Co.) The Cass County Board of Supervisors Tuesday morning held a discussion on a construction permit application for a confinement feeding operation location.
Cass County Supervisors Chairman Steve Baier said A to Z Feeders wants to add a building with a capacity for 1,280 head in section 9 of Washington Township. Cass County Auditor Dale Sunderman said the first step is a notice of the application will need to be published in the newspaper. Public comments can be filed at the County Auditor’s Office until December 17th. Sunderman said the next step is scoring the Master Matrix.
Formal action will be taken on December 21st.
In other news, the Supervisors held another discussion on whether or not to establish an abatement plan for property improvements or on industrial/commercial classes of property in non-incorporated areas of Cass County. No action was taken. However, the Board agreed to prepare a plan as quickly as possible and act on it this year to be effective for the January 1, 2021 valuations.
Cass County Auditor Dale Sunderman also reported that their post-election audit report confirmed that their election equipment accurately counted the votes of the November 30th Atlantic Mayor run-off election. The audit was conducted on December 6th and the hand count was the same as the machine count. Meanwhile, Tim Teig has requested a recount of the ballots and that recount will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m.
