(Atlantic) The Atlantic Parks and Recreation Board swore in new Board Member Shirley Jensen at their meeting Monday evening. Jensen is taking over for Stuart Dusenberry who did not seek re-election.
The Board also held the election of officers with Jolene Smith being named Chairperson and Erin McFadden Vice-Chairperson.
During the meeting, Parks and Recreation Director Bryant Rasmussen told the Board that all of the park restrooms are now closed. He said it was getting to that time anyway with the weather changing, but there was some vandalism that expedited that process.
Rasmussen said they will need to start talking about some repairs and updates for the restrooms, including possibly replacing the paper towels with hand dryers.
In other news, Rasmussen said they have started the interviews for the Assistant Parks and Recreation Director
position. He said they had 13 applicants and all of them are quality candidates.
Rasmussen then presented a bid for ten umbrellas and stands for Sunnyside Pool shade. The Board gave their approved to go ahead and order them.
Rasmussen also noted that the Cedar Park Basketball court is officially done and they will paint the lines in the Spring.
