(Atlantic) The Trevor Frederickson Memorial Fund presented at check for $10,000 to the Atlantic Fire Department Saturday morning.
Atlantic Fire Chief Tom Cappel said, “We have started a fundraiser for some new extrication tools which are battery operated and portable so they do not have to be hooked up to the truck. We can take them anywhere we want to go; car accidents, if it’s ag-related equipment… it’s a cutter, a spreader and a ram which is what we use all the time. I would really like to thank these guys for the $10,000 donation, it’s going to go a long way towards the tools; they’re expensive and we’re going to actively go after it so we can get those tools purchased and get to using them.”
Cappel said their fundraising goal is $35,000 and they hope to raise that money by the end of the year. Cappel said they are applying for some grant money, but that money will not be enough to cover the rest of the cost. If you would like to donate, you can contact Tom Cappel or the Atlantic Fire Department at 712-243-2146.
Trevor’s mother Melanie Petty said, “We’ve always supported the Fire Department. Trev, that was one of his dreams to get on the AFD and we lost him before he could get the opportunity. They do a lot of good things for the community and we just like supporting them and we couldn’t do any of it without everybody that comes out and supports us every year and golfs and donates to our cause, so we’re just paying it forward.”
