(Washington, DC) — U-S Senators Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst are co-sponsoring legislation that prohibits state and local governments from interfering with agricultural production in other states.
The bill is called the Exposing Agricultural Trade Suppression Act – or the EATS Act. The Republican lawmakers say it would prevent states like California from regulating how Iowa producers raise their pigs in order to sell pork products there.
Grassley said, “I don’t know why anyone would want to live in a state where it’s almost impossible to buy bacon. But California wants to impose such a rule on its residents.”
