(Griswold) The Griswold Community School Board met Monday night to discuss several different items.
The meeting opened up with old business regarding board policies and establishing activity pass fees for the upcoming school year. From there, the board went on to discuss new topics in the district. Superintendent Dave Henrichs told KSOM/KS95 that after a facility walkthrough, the board considered removing tennis and sand volleyball courts.
After further discussion, they decided to remove the sand volleyball courts and keep the tennis courts, due to the possible grant.
The School Board determined two Griswold Community School District buses were inoperable and after declining a bid by a Lenox man for the buses, they will sell them directly to the scrapyard. The board approved a continuation of a School Resource Officer Contract and a Memorandum of Understanding with Family Connections, a group that provides mental health aid to students. They also reviewed board policies and made the decision to adjust board policy 407.2, which now allows teachers to resign up to July 1st with no consequences.
Mileage compensation was set at .35 per mile and the board approved Tiger Mart as Griswold’s fuel supplier for the upcoming school year. The school board approved one tech support bid from MITS and designated level 1, guidance counselor, and level 2, Cass County Sherriff’s Office, for Child Abuse Investigators for the next year. This designation does occur annually in the district.
In closing, the board approved bid specifications for bakery, dairy, warewash, snow removal, and trash. The John Baylor Test Prep Program Contract was also approved to assist in preparation for the ACT. The final item on the agenda focused on approving the school’s revenue purpose statement, which is required annually by the state. They also asked for approval regarding a resolution to require this as a question on the November election.
The next regular school board meeting is scheduled for July 19, 2021
