(Griswold) The Griswold School Board on Monday denied the release of a teacher from her contract. The Griswold School District’s policy states once a teacher signs his or her contract, they can only be released upon the district finding a suitable replacement.
Griswold Schools Superintendent Dave Henrichs says Elementary Teacher and Instructional Coach Taryn Maguire has been offered a position at another school district. However, Henrichs says the Griswold School District currently has not found a suitable replacement. “Taryn Maguire requested she be released from her contract unconditionally, which means prior to finding a replacement,” stated Henrichs. “The Board wants to try and help her out, but at the same time they also have to protect the district.”
The board voted 4-2 denying the request. Maguire is contractually bound to her contract with the Griswold School District, while the district continues to search for an elementary teacher to fill the position.
