(Atlantic) The Atlantic Boy’s Track team has two individuals ranked in the top six in three different events and two relays in the top ten heading into the State Qualifying meet at Glenwood on Thursday.
Atlantic Head Coach Abby Becker says the coaching staff broke down the performances from across the state and formed a lineup that has the best chance to qualify.
Craig Alan Becker has the fastest time in Class 3A in the 800 Meters, (1:56.51), the 6th fastest time in the 1600 Meters (4:26.54), and is a member of the 8th fastest time in the Distance Medley Relay, (3:38.13), along with Gannon ’Hara, Zane Vance, and Colin Mullenix. Mullenix also ranks 4th fastest in the 400-meter hurdles (56.44), 14th best time in the 110 Meter Hurdles (15.47), and is a member of the school record-breaking Shuttle Hurdle Relay team, (1:03.18), of Garrett Reynolds, Joe Weaver, and Zane Vance currently sitting 9th in Class 3A.
Becker says the entire team has improved this season.
The other teams competing at Glenwood for a spot at the State Track include; Carroll, Bishop Heelan Catholic, Sioux City, Clarke, Creston, Denison-Schleswig Glenwood, and Harlan.
The meet starts at 4:00 p.m. We will have reports from Glenwood twice an hour starting at 4:20 p.m. on 95.7 FM.
