(Cedar Rapids, IA) — A Cedar Rapids man faces at least ten years in federal prison for the May 2014 killing and robbery of his drug dealer. Prosecutors say a jury convicted 48-year-old Matthew Robbins Monday on multiple charges including conspiracy to commit robbery and using, carrying, and discharging a firearm during a crime of violence resulting in murder. Acting U-S Attorney Sean Berry said, ” Matthew Robbins used a gun to steal drugs and money. Robbins’s actions resulted in the death of the man he robbed.” He will face a mandatory minimum of ten years and a possible maximum penalty of life in prison at sentencing.
