(Council Bluffs) The Council Bluffs Fire Department says the cause of the fire at Copper Creek Apartments on Monday is believed to be from improper disposal of smoking materials.
The Council Bluffs Fire Department was called to Copper Creek Apartments, located at 2704 East Kanesville, at approximately 2:42 p.m. on Monday for a building fire. Crews arrived to find heavy fire extending up the exterior balconies and into the attic. The fire was declared under control approximately 60 minutes later.
All occupants of the apartment complex made it out safely. One firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion at a local hospital and released.
