(Anita) Two people suffered serious injuries when the motorcycle they were riding struck a deer.
Cass County Chief Deputy Sheriff John Westering tells KSOM/KS95 News the accident happened at around 7:13 p.m. on White Pole Road and 662nd Street. Westering says 22-year old Austin Boggs of Atlantic and his passenger, 29-year old Paige Boken, were injured in the accident.
Boggs and Boken were riding eastbound on White Pole Road on a 1997 Harley Davidson Motorcycle. When they approached the intersection of 662nd Street, a deer popped out of the south ditch onto the roadway. The motorcycle struck the deer ejecting Boggs and Boken into the south ditch.
Boggs and Boken were transported to the Cass County Memorial Hospital with serious but not non-life-threatening injuries. Boggs was later transferred to the UNMC for trauma evaluation.
Anita Fire and Rescue, Wiota Fire and Rescue, and Cass County EMS assisted the Cass County Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
