(Glenwood) The Glenwood girls captured the team title on their home track on Monday with 191.50 points. Atlantic finished second with 120.50.
Glenwood raced out to a quick start with back-to-back wins. The 800 Sprint Medley Relay team of Zoie Carda, Lauren Roenfeldt, Coryl Matheny, and Nora Dougherty outran the field in a time of 1:56.46. Emma Hughes followed with a first-place finish in the 3000 meters. The race featured two of the top ten runners in Class 3A, #5 Hughes of Glenwood and #8 Taylor McCreedy of Atlantic. Hughes ran behind McCreedy from the gun and broke loose at the 300-meter mark for the win in 11:27.78; Hughes also topped the field in the 800 Meters in 2:29.85, Lauren Hughes finished 2nd. The Shuttle Hurdle Relay team of Lauren Becker, Carlie Clemmer, Abby Hughes, and Marissa Ausdemore won in a season’s best time of 1:10.62. Marissa Ausdemore and Carlie Clemmer finished one-two in the 100-Meter Hurdles in 16.94, and 17.74 respectively. Abby Hughes ran a season-best time of 1:07.17 in the 400-meter hurdles moving her to 4th in Class 3A. Coryl Matheny won the High Jump (4-10), and the Rams wrapped up the night with a first-place finish in the 4×400 Meter Relay. The team of Danika Arnold, Neyla Nanfito, Nora Dougherty, and Abby Hughes clocked a 4:13.34.
Atlantic’s Distance Medley Relay team of Chloe Mullenix, Caroline Pellett, Kennedy Goergen, and Taylor McCreedy finished first in a season’s best time of 4:31.28. McCreedy won the 1500 Meters in (5:07.01) and finished 2nd in the 3000 (11:34.37). Haley Rasmussen clocked the winning time of 1:01.21 in the 400 Meters, and the 4×800 Meter Relay Team finished second, with (Claire Pellett, Madison Botos, Kennedy Goergen, and Ava Rush) (10:45.18), and the 4×100 Meter Relay team of Madison Huddleson, Caroline Pellett, Nicole Middents, and Alyssa Derby finished second in seasons best time of 53.75. Holly Duax of Sioux City, West, the state’s top 200-meter runner, set a new meet record in a time of 24.84, shattering the old mark of 25.67, set in 2016. The team of Allie Hansen, Lily Juhnke, Kyrie Olorundami, and Byrnn Mayo won the 4×100 Meter Relay in a time of 53.62.
Red Oak won the 4×800 Meter Relay with Delaney Hall, Chloe DeVries, Camryn Bass, and Alex McCunn in a time of 10:36.31, and Liz Carbaugh of Red Oak won the Long Jump with an impressive 17-10.00 performance.
Maddie Bergman of Lewis Central won the 100 Meters (13.21), and the 4×200 Meter Relay team of Irelyn James, Atziri Medina, Maddie Bergman, and Madeline Fidone earned gold in a time (1:48.16).
Sara Morales of Shenandoah swept the throwing events with a 38-10.00 in the Shot Put and 112-00 in the Discus.
