(Des Moines) On Wednesday, the Iowa House passed their budget for Administration and Regulation, with a vote of 55-37.
Iowa House District 21 Representative Tom Moore said this budget adds $95 million to rural broadband funding, resulting in a total of $100 million for rural broadband. He said remote work and telehealth of the past year have shown that broadband is a necessity for Iowans. Many broadband deserts (areas without broadband access) exist in the state.
Speaker Pat Grassley said that this legislation marks one of many campaign promises that House Republicans have delivered this year.
