(Glenwood) Glenwood topped the ten-team field at their home track meet on Thursday night.
The Rams scored 137-points, Harlan finished second with 101, Lewis Central, 3rd, 100, Carlisle, and Council Bluffs, Abraham Lincoln tied for 4th, each with 87-points, Atlantic, 6th, 80, Clarinda, 7th, 51, Creston, 8th, 47, Logan-Magnolia, 9th, 39, and Council Bluffs, Thomas, Jefferson, 10th, with nine points.
Ainsley Ertzen, of Carlisle, won the 800 in a season-best time of (2:15.07) and anchored the winning 800 Sprint Medley Relay to a time of (1:51.81). Emma Hughes, of Glenwood, won the 1500 meters, (4:56.11), and Taylor McCreedy, of Atlantic, won the 3,000 meters, in (11:04.73).
The top performers in the sprints were: Maddie Bergman, of Lewis Central, 100 meters, (13.03), Jillian Shanks, Council Bluffs, Abraham Lincoln, 200 meters, (26.86), Hanna Schimmer, Council Bluffs, Abraham Lincoln, 100-meter hurdles, (17.35), and 400 meters in (1:03.91), and Abby Hughes of Glenwood earned gold in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of (1:08.08).
Kelsey Fields, of Creston, one of the state’s top throwers scored first place honors in the Shot Put and Discus. Fields, the state’s shot put leader threw 40-11.75, and heaved the discus 115-11.50.
Atziri Medina of L.C. cleared 4-10 to win the high jump, and Maddie Bergman of Lewis Central won the long jump with a 16-10.25 effort.
Lewis Central won the 4×100, (52.96) and 4×200 (1:51.85). Harlan, running Kaia Bieker, Brecken VanBaale, Lilly Metzger, and Liv Freund won the 4×400 Meter Relay in a season’s best time of (4:10.42). Atlantic finished second with baton carriers, Chloe Mullenix, Taylor McCreedy, Ava Rush, and Haley Rasmussen in a season-best effort of (4:12.71).
Glenwood won the 4×800 meter relay in a time of (10:21.59), with Danika Arnold, Neyla Nanfito, Lauren Hughes, and Emma Hughes. Atlantic finished second in a time of 10:28.37, with team members, Claire Pellett, Kennedy Goergen, Madison Botos, and Ava Rush.
Carlisle took first in the Shuttle Hurdle Relay in (1:12.40), Harlan finished second with Justine Buman, Aubri Smith, Lucy Metzger, and Ally Curren in a time of (1:13.33).
Harlan won the 1600 Meter Medley in a time of (4:27.20), with Metzger, McLaughlin, Olivia Anderson, and VanBaale. Atlantic finished second in a time of (4:32.40). The runners were, Caroline Pellett, Rasmussen, Kennedy Goergen, and Taylor McCreedy.
