(Anita) The need for daycare in Massena was a discussion topic at the CAM School Board meeting this week.
CAM School Superintendent Paul Croghan says the Massena City Council and the CAM Board of Educations continue to communicate and will continue to have conversations regarding school or private facilities for daycare. “We’ve invited the Fire Marshall to look at our current facilities,” said Croghan. “We are exploring ways to use current facilities with minimal renovation. These are collaborative conversations, and everyone sees a need, and we’re trying to find a solution.”
Croghan says the initiative is the discussion phase only, and the School Board did not take any action.
In March, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds signed an Executive Order launching a new Child Care Task Force to develop a comprehensive strategy to address the child care shortage and barrier to work in Iowa. The governor also announced awardees of two child care grant programs totaling $13,053,372 and contributing to the creation of more than 4,000 new child care slots across Iowa.
