(Red Oak) Red Oak City Officials will begin cleaning and filling the newly renovated swimming pool in the next couple of weeks. Red Oak City Administrator Brad Wright says one thing they desperately need now is lifeguards.
“The new facility requires more lifeguards than in the past and we encourage people interested in the job to contact us,” said Wright. “We’re hopeful we’ll get some applicants in the next couple of weeks.”
Wright says the goal is to build a staff of 25 lifeguards with nine on duty per shift. He says currently, eight people have applied for the job.
Construction crews wrapped work on the $2.5 million pool renovation project in July of 2020. Because of COVID and the time of completion, City officials decided to wait until the summer of 2021 to re-open. The pool’s north entry is a one-third zero-depth entry with the toys and a fountain, a large slide, and other amenities.
The pool opens on Memorial Day.
