(Des Moines) Governor Kim Reynolds said the recent uptick in positive COVID-19 cases in Iowa, and across the nation, can be attributed to individuals that are 18 to 24 years of age.
Reynolds said while many of them will experience only mild symptoms, they risk spreading COVID-19 to others including older co-workers or family members who could become seriously ill.
Reynolds said fortunately a large percentage of Iowans 65 and older have been vaccinated, but the vaccination rate among middle age adults is lower.
Reynolds is asking Iowans that if you are comfortable, take the first vaccine that is offered to you rather than wait for one that you believe is better than the others.
