(Clarinda) A Missouri man is in custody in connection with the passing of counterfeit money in Clarinda.
Clarinda Police Chief Keith Brothers said on Monday at 7:00 p.m., Officers arrested 32-year old Max Shafer, the IV of Maryville, Missouri, in the 200 block of West Main Street on a probable cause of passing counterfeit U.S. Currency at various businesses in Clarinda from April 3-5.
Officer’s arrested Shafer without incident. He is currently being held in the Page County Jail on a $15,000 bond.
The investigation into this incident continues. The reports have been forwarded to Page County Attorney Carl M. Sonksen to review and file formal charges. The reports have also been forwarded to the United State Secret Service for review.
