(Adair) The Adair County Extension Office will be distributing food boxes for the Farmers to Families Food Box Program next week.
April 15th is the date and the Adair County Fairgrounds will be the location. The program was launched by USDA last year. “It was a way for farmers to use leftover produce and things that they had so they wouldn’t go to waste. These products go into a food box that families can come and pick up. There is no income requirement or pre-registration. It is completely open to the public. These boxes usually contain meat items, milk, other dairy products, eggs, fresh fruits, and vegetables.”
Youth Development Coordinator Danielle Morgan is excited to offer this in Adair County for the first time. “It’s a great opportunity for families to get some extra assistance. We are very excited to be offering this to families and help them navigating and hopefully get through some of these hardships that they are facing because of Covid.”
Pick-up on April 15th will start at 11:00 a.m. at the 4-H/FFA Building in Greenfield.
