(Ft. Pierce, Florida) Former Atlantic standout and Midland’s University freshman Anna Lowary is competing at the National Invitation Swim meet in Ft. Pierce, Florida, this week. Lowary will compete in the 500 and 200 FreeStyle events, the 200 Butterfly, and the 800 Free Style Relay.
Lowary finished the season with strong performances in the Great Plains Athletic Conference Swim meet with a third-place finish in the 500 freestyle and a fourth-place finish in the 200. Lowary says she feels good about competing this week based on her performance at the conference meet and her training over the past couple of weeks. “I think big meets are where I’m supposed to be because I like all the anxiety, and nervousness that goes into it.’
Lowary will compete with her teammates in the 800 FreeStyle Relay today, the 500 FreeStyle on Thursday, the 200 FreeStyle on Friday, and the 200 Butterfly on Saturday. “I’m looking forward to swimming against the girls ranked in the top three so I can get a feel of where I need to go finish higher,” said Lowary. “I feel like I am capable of swimming times that will land me in the top eight.”?
The National Invitational Swim Meet runs from March 17 through March 20.
