Marjorie Ellen Carrigan Obituary

Marjorie Ellen Carrigan, daughter of Louis and Ruth (Spracklin) Ditzler, was born June 26, 1938 in Persia, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Portsmouth, Iowa. She attended country school near Persia and graduated from Persia High School with the class of 1957.

On July 6, 1959, Marjorie was united in marriage to Roger Carrigan at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Portsmouth. She worked at a bank in Council Bluffs, Iowa until her first son Gary was born. She then became a homemaker and raised her family. Later she worked at the café in Persia and Minden Bowling Alley. She also worked at Oriental Trading in Underwood until her retirement. In September of 2017, Marge and Roger moved to Westridge Apartments in Harlan.
Marge died on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn, Iowa, attaining the age of eighty-two years, eight months, and five days. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Rita Christensen and Ruthie Morse.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years Roger Carrigan of Harlan, Iowa formerly of Persia; children Gary (Kathleen) Carrigan of Neola, Iowa; Karen (Gary) Otterpohl of Missouri Valley, Iowa; Sharon (Dale) Pauley of Panama, Iowa; Mark (Kathy) Carrigan of Persia, Iowa; LuAnn Francis (Loren Pauley) of Portsmouth, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; other family members and friends.
