(Atlantic) At Wednesday’s Atlantic School Board meeting Atlantic School’s Superintendent Steve Barber reviewed the updated spectator policy from Governor Kim Reynolds’s latest proclamation. Governor Reynolds’s latest proclamation last week included a change to spectator limits.
Barber says that instead of identifying the number and relation to the student participant, the school’s responsibility is to ensure everyone wears masks and social distance between groups.
“With all of the bleachers pulled out we can probably accommodate 400-450 spectators,” explained Barber. “We moved the pep band to the northwest side of the gym to create more space. We will continue to allow six people per participant, and the visiting team to a total of 150 people.”
Barber admits ensuring the district meets its responsibility is tricky and can look different depending on the event and opponent.
