(Atlantic) Shoppers can get a head start on Thanksgiving preparations while supporting local farmers and businesses during Produce in the Park’s Harvest Market on Monday, November 23, in Atlantic.
The market will run from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Cass County Community Center, offering a variety of locally grown foods, baked goods, handmade crafts, and holiday gifts just days before Thanksgiving.
Market Manager Ciara Hoegh says fresh fall produce will include spinach, arugula, potatoes, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, onions, garlic, carrots, and cabbage. Vendors will also have locally raised meats, farm-fresh eggs, honey, jams, jellies, salsa, baked goods, and frozen apple pies that can be baked Thanksgiving morning.
Produce in the Park will give away free locally grown butternut squash while supplies last, with one available per household. A guest chef will also serve samples featuring the versatile winter vegetable.
Hoegh says two food trucks will add to the offerings. Sippin’ Pretty will serve dirty sodas and other non-alcoholic drinks outside the community center, while Reyes Tamales will sell hot tamales inside.
Hoegh says shoppers can also browse handmade items from craft vendors, including candles, wax melts, holiday decorations, potted plants, wood crafts, jewelry, crocheted items, stuffed animals, and bath and body products.
Additional activities include a free children’s craft with Your Forte, a demonstration of Iowa State University’s food processing crop cart by Cass County ISU Extension, and information from Healthy Cass County. Atlantic Food Pantry Scrooge Candidate Mike McDermott will also be collecting donations for the food pantry.
Admission is free, and the market is open to everyone. SNAP/EBT and Double Up Food Bucks are accepted for qualifying food purchases.
The Harvest Market is the second of five events in Produce in the Park’s 2026-2027 Holiday Market Series. The Christmas Market is scheduled for December 19, followed by the Sweetheart Market on February 13 and the Spring Celebration Market on March 27.
