(Lincoln, NE) — The Nebraska football team lost on Friday to Illinois and the scapegoat on Saturday was Offensive Coordinator Dana Holgorsen who was fired.
The former Head Coach at West Virginia and Houston was brought in by Nebraska Head Coach Matt Rhule in the middle of the 2024 season as a consultant and later was appointed OC. After a full season in the position in 2025, he has been dismissed after Rhule said that the program needed a change after only averaging 13.5 points in their current four game losing streak.
Rhule said he was “angry” with the play of his Nebraska team after losing 24-13 at the Illini. The Huskers were 5-0 to start the season but have lost games to Indiana, Oregon, Washington and now Illinois. Nebraska will visit Rutgers this coming Saturday and then close the regular season with games against Ohio St. and Iowa.
Co-offensive coordinator and QB Coach Glenn Thomas will be calling the plays going forward.
