(Greene County) A juvenile was airlifted to a Des Moines Hospital after suffering a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the foot while squirrel hunting on Saturday.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Office says first responders were dispatched to the intersection of 250th Street and S Avenue, about five miles southeast of Jefferson, at approximately 3:04 p.m. October 3.
The juvenile was transported by air ambulance to Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines for treatment of serious injuries.
The Jefferson Police Department, Greene County Emergency Medical Services, and Grand Junction Fire and Rescue assisted the Greene County Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is investigating the incident.
