(Des Moines) Iowa gasoline prices fell 11 cents last week. AAA reports the statewide average for regular unleaded is now $4.23 per gallon.
The Iowa average is $1.40 higher than a year ago. The national average Wednesday was $4.43, down 31 cents from last week.
Iowa diesel prices also declined, falling 15 cents to an average of $6.13 per gallon. That is $2.63 higher than a year ago, when Iowa diesel averaged $3.50. The current Iowa average is 28 cents below the national average of $6.41.
Crude oil prices were mixed this week. West Texas Intermediate crude fell $1.24 per barrel to $91.40, while Brent crude rose $1 to $103.73. A year ago, WTI was $63.17 per barrel, and Brent was $68.52.
Current Des Moines terminal/rack prices are $2.98 for U87-E10, $3.70 for unleaded 87 clear, $4.89 for ULSD No. 2, $5.20 for ULSD No. 1 and $2.59 per gallon for E-70.
Natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site rose 1 cent to $3.01 per MMBtu.
Iowa will begin reporting retail heating oil and propane prices next week.
