(Lewis) Iowa’s deer archery season began October 1, and bow hunters are reminded of new regulations on treestands on public land.
John Lorenzen discussed the changes during Saturday’s KSOM DNR Report. He said the new regulations require a metal tag with the DNR # for tree stands placed on public land.
Lorenzen says the requirement applies only to public land and is intended to help conservation officers identify who owns a tree stand.
Tree stands are to be taken down and removed throughout the time of year when the season is not going (while on public land), so this tagging method will allow officers to identify whose stand it belongs to,
Lorenzen says this method allows hunters to tag their stand in a way that does not need to include their name and address.”
The deer archery season runs through the first gun season in early December. It then pauses during the shotgun seasons before resuming afterward.
