(Oakland, IA) — A softball state tournament berth is on the line tonight in Class 2A, Region 4 as two Western Iowa Conferences foes meet for the third time as #11 Logan Magnolia visits #1 Riverside, coverage on KSOM.
The Bulldogs beat the Panthers twice in mid June after a rain postponement earlier in the season — on June 15 Riverside won 5-3 and two days later the Bulldogs won 3-0. Lo Ma Starter Senior Campbell Chase pitched well in both games but did not get the win — she has been the leader all season long hitting .427, 1 HR, and 27 RBI and has a 1.63 ERA in the circle with 208 strikeouts in 137 plus innings pitched. Panthers Head Coach Jamie Evans says Chase will have to be on top of her game because every hitter in the Riverside line up can hit it out of the yard
Lo Ma beat Tri Center 9-0 and thumped Underwood 10-2 in the first two rounds. Junior Gracyn Stone is hitting .465 with 8 HR and 34 RBI for Logan Magnolia which gives them a dynamic 1-2 punch in the heart of the order but Evans says he will need production from the bottom of the order as well
Getting hits off Chase will be much more difficult for the Bulldog hitters but Riverside Head Coach Darrell Frain also says that the Panthers offense is underrated
Riverside beat AC/GC 9-1 in their first game and blew past Nodaway Valley 11-0 in the Regional Semis. Bulldogs Head Coach Darrell Frain says it is not easy to beat a team three teams in a season
Logan Magnolia 19-8; Riverside is 25-5. First pitch at 7:00 pm, coverage on 96.5 FM KSOM.
