(Anita, IA) — CAM Baseball is 7-3 coming off a win last night against Exira EHK. Head Coach Mick Long would like to see better pitching and defense but he likes the bats right now and the Cougars are stealing a ton of bases — 79 in their first 9 games which ranks 4th in Class 1A. Long says that was the plan — when you got a ton of horses in the starting gates, you let ’em loose
Offensively, Collin Bower leads the way hitting .485, 1 HR, 18 RBI; Carson McKee is batting .565 with 9 RBI; Zach Kauffman is at .448, 1 HR and 9 RBI.
On the mound McKee is the leader with a 2-0 record and 2.33 ERA in 4 starts and 5 appearances. Long says he is working on getting better
Long says Bower has been a surprise on the mound in a role that he was not planning on using him at. The overall ERA is at 4.77 and Long says his arms just need to make better quality pitches.
Coming up for CAM on Friday is a showdown at first place Coon Rapids Bayard
Tonight CAM will host Lenox in a non conference game.
