Nebraska And Iowa Among States With Smallest Drug Problem
(Undated) — A new study finds that Iowa is among the states with the smallest drug problem. WalletHub compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia using 20 metrics to determine where drug abuse is most and least pronounced. Iowa ranked number five, doing well for a lack of drug use and addiction, especially in teenagers. The study found that Utah, followed by Florida, has the smallest drug problem. New Mexico, Arkansas, and Alaska were found to have the biggest drug problems.
Aldi Removing Another 44 Artificial Ingredients From Its Store Brands
(Batavia, IL) — Shoppers will have a healthier selection of products to chose from at a major Midwest grocery store chain next year. Aldi says it was the first major grocer to remove a dozen artificial preservatives, colors, flavors, and sweeteners from its store brands a decade ago. That ingredient list will expand to 57 by the end of December of next year. Aldi has around 370 stores in Iowa, Wisconsin, Missouri, Nebraska, and Illinois.
Central Iowa Winery To Close, Citing High Business Costs
(Indianola, IA) — A longtime Iowa winery is closing. Summerset Winery in Indianola will permanently shut down. The winery says a waterline rupture and the cost to rebuild and sustain the property is too great. Summerset started growing grapes in 1989 by experimenting to find how they could withstand Iowa winters. The company did not say when their last day will be.
