(Atlantic) — Atlantic City Administrator John Lund told the City Council on Wednesday that the property tax levy is expected to decrease as part of the fiscal year 2027 budget process.
Lund said scheduling a public hearing on the proposed levy is a required step and an important first move in finalizing the FY27 budget. He has proposed lowering the property tax levy, noting that legislation implementing the changes is currently being drafted.
Despite the proposed levy adjustments, Lund said the net impact would be an increase of $181,689 in new property tax revenue for fiscal year 2027, representing a 3.97 percent increase. The total property tax levied would be $4,688,676.24.
The City Council adopted a resolution setting April 1 at 5:00 p.m. as the date and time for the required public hearing on the city’s maximum property tax dollars. Those specific levy amounts must be finalized and entered into the Iowa Department of Management’s digital system.
