(Rock Valley, IA) — The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says no one is injured after a dairy farm explosion. The blast happened at Meadowvale Dairy in Rock Valley around 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday. Officials believe it was caused by chemicals in the basement of one of the parlors. Sioux City Hazmat responded to the incident and is investigating. No animals were injured in the explosion.
Tama County Man Found Dead In Arkansas
(Tama County, IA) — A man missing from Tama County has been found dead in Arkansas. Authorities say Nicholas Collins’ body was found on Tuesday after his car was discovered at a trailhead in the Ozark National Forest on New Year’s Day. There is no indication of foul play at this time. He was last heard from on December 19th. Collins was 22 years old.
Attorney General Bird Proposes Katie’s Law In Agenda Preview
(Des Moines, IA) — Attorney General Brenna Bird is proposing a version of Katie’s Law to the state legislature. Bird previewed her agenda at the Polk County Courthouse on Tuesday, calling on lawmakers to join with more than 30 other states in passing Katie’s Law. The rule would allow DNA samples to be taken after felony and aggravated-misdemeanor arrests, rather than waiting for convictions. She says the law helps find repeat criminals faster and could help with cold cases. The new legislative session starts on Monday.
Fort Dodge Police Searching For Sunday Shooting Suspect
(Fort Dodge, IA) — Fort Dodge Police are asking for help locating shooting suspect Davontrez McCuddin. The 22-year-old is considered armed and dangerous and wanted for attempted murder. McCuddin is accused of shooting a man multiple times on Sunday at 12:30 a.m. on the 900 block of 8th Street Southwest. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is being asked to contact the police immediately. A 250-dollar reward has been issued for information leading to his arrest.
Marshall County Man Facing 23 Charges Following Police Chase
(Jasper County, IA) — A man faces 23 charges after a high-speed chase through Jasper County on Monday. Deputies said the chase reached speeds over 100 mph after the truck blew past an attempted traffic stop. The chase began in Jasper County around 7:35 p.m. and looped through Laurel before heading south. The truck came to a crashing halt just outside Laurel about 20 minutes after deputies punctured one of its tires by using stop sticks. Some of the charges include speeding, reckless driving, second offense OWI, and carrying a weapon while intoxicated.
