(Pottawattamie Co.) The Wall That Heals, a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial along with a mobile Education Center, is coming to Pottawattamie County over Memorial Day weekend 2026.
Speaking at the Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors meeting Tuesday, Kate Gerber, Pottawattamie County Public Relations Manager, said the Wall That Heals will be at Westfair in Council Bluffs May 22 -25. It will be open 24 hours a day and is free to the public.
The Wall That Heals honors the more than three million Americans who served in the U.S. Armed forces in the Vietnam War, and it bears the names of the 58,281 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam.
The three-quarter scale Wall replica is 375 feet in length and stands 7.5 feet high at its tallest point.
The traveling Mobile Education Center features two digital photo displays: Hometown Heroes, highlighting local service members named on The Wall, and In Memory, honoring area Vietnam veterans who returned home and later died. Other exhibits include videos on the memorial’s history, items left at The Wall, a replica In Memory plaque, a Vietnam map, and a war timeline. The display offers a concise look at the war, The Wall, and the era surrounding the conflict.
