(Greenfield, IA) — Nodaway Valley has a lot of promise for a rebound season this year. The Wolverines went 8-15 last season which was the first losing season in 15 years and first sub 10 win season in 23 years. However, Nodaway Valley has incorporated students from the now defunct Orient-Macksburg school district and many of that school’s leading athletes will suit up for the Wolverines this year. That means Izzy Eisbach will have some help — Eisbach led the state in scoring last season averaging 31.9 points per game. She ranks third all time in school history in points and should take over the top spot early in the season but she says she would give all the points back for more wins
Eisbach will have Emma Boswell to help in the scoring department this year — the Senior led O-M in scoring last season averaging 18.7 points per game and will bring the Wolverines a strong scoring threat in the paint which will compliment Eisbach well
Senior Lea Stonebraker led Nodaway Valley in taking offensive charges last season — her minutes will go up this year and she says this team has a chance to do something special
Another player coming from Orient Macksburg is Emma’s sister Ella Boswell who can shoot the threes and averaged 10.9 points a game last year. She says adjusting to a new school and new team has not been that difficult
Sophomore Mattison Thompson also comes from O-M — she averaged 6.9 ppg. Senior Kacie Ford is a Nodaway Valley veteran who brings defense and she says the team is thinking big this year
Nodaway Valley will open their season on Tuesday, December 2 hosting last year’s Pride of Iowa conference champ Mt. Ayr, coverage on KSOM.
