(Marshall County, IA) — A dozen more Legionnaires’ disease cases have been identified in Marshall County. State health officials say the number of identified cases rose to 52 and one confirmed death as of yesterday, which is a significant increase since Friday’s report of 40 cases. Samples from the county’s cooling towers have been sent to Iowa City for testing, but officials say it could take weeks to receive the results. The outbreak is still believed to be isolated to Marshall County. Residents are urged to maintain clean water systems in their homes and businesses, and to seek medical attention immediately if they experience any symptoms of Legionnaires’ disease.
