(Sioux County, Iowa) One teenager died, and another suffered serious injuries in a two-vehicle crash in Sioux County.
The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened on Tuesday, at around 2:37 p.m. on the north junction of Highway 75 and Highway 18. A 17-year-old from Rock Valley died in the crash, another 17-year-old from Rock Valley was taken to Hegg Memorial, and later airlifted to Avera McKennan Hospital and University Health Center in Sioux Falls.
According to the report, a 17-year-old driving a 2007 Cadillac Escalade stopped facing east on Highway 18, while a 2009 Peterbilt semi tractor was northbound on Highway 75. The teen driving the Cadillac pulled away from the stop sign and was struck by the semi. The Escalade came to rest in the east ditch. The semi came to a stop in the middle of the highway.
