(Sheldon) One person suffered injuries when the pickup he was driving collided with a semi in O’Brien County.
The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened on Thursday at the intersection of Northwest Boulevard and southbound Highway 60. Authorities say 21-year-old Jonathan Van Meeteren, of George, Iowa, was injured in the crash.
According to the report, Van Meeteren, driving a 2014 Dodge Ram pickup, eastbound at a stop sign at Northwest Boulevard, failed to yield to a southbound Peterbilt semi driven by 51-year-old Leonardo Perez Hernandez, of Hialeah, Florida. Both vehicles collided in the intersection. The pickup came to rest in the southwest ditch and caught fire. The Freightliner came to rest on the shoulder.
Sheldon Ambulance transported Van Meeteren to Sanford Sheldon Medical Center for treatment of injuries received in the accident.
